Itinerary description
Bribie Island, separated from the mainland by the narrow Pumicestone channel, is 45 km north of Brisbane at the point where the Bribie Bridge crosses the channel. It is thought that the name was derived from an Aboriginal expression, 'Boorabee', referring to a koala or the island itself.
This walk is a easy walk with 10K of it following the coast around to the north side of the island where the surf beach is. This part of the beach is home to 2 driftwood houses and also a small group of seals. The walk finishes off following the sand trails back through the middle of the island to get back to the start point.
