Itinerary description
Physical difficulty: 2.5/5
Note #1: This trail crosses country borders. Žbevnica and Špičasti vrh peaks are on the Croatian side, Kavčič and Golič are on the Slovenian side. There is no specific defined physical border anywhere om the trail. At most times, you can plainly see your next destination in the distance.
Note #2: This side of the Ćićarija mountain is a grassy mountain plateau in reality. There's sparse trees, but the trail itself is 95% without any shade whatsoever. Bring lots of water if you hike it in the hotter months.
Note #3: This trail can be stretched much longer and also cut much shorter. Other peaks on the Slovenian side are easily accessible. From the ones we visited, Kavčič is the most impressive (though not the highest).
Note #4: Since this is also a state border between Croatia and the rest of wealthier EU, it's on the path of migrants from the Middle-East. We didn't encounter anyone but fellow hikers, but there were a lots of discarded clothing, shoes and some trash littered along the path, so it's clear that there is illegal crossings happening here still.
Note #5: At intersection #11, there isn't a clear path back towards Špičasti vrh. We just followed the general direction towards the next waypoint, as the terrain is very easy to navigate.
--
The trail starts a bit outside the village Brest, on a junction with a branching carriage road. The terrain is mostly very easy to navigate, technically. The peak will great you with a nice view of Učka, the rest of Ćićarija on the Croatian side, and the Slovenian mountains on the other side.
The terrain is very family friendly, but with no shade, so keep that in mind. During the proper summer months, the vegetation dries out and the entire hike is less impressive. Physical difficulty therefore greatly varies whether you visit during hotter or colder months of the year.
Waypoints
Intersection #1
Get off the carriage road and continue straight on the terrain.
Žbevnica (1014 m)
Žbevnica is the western-most peak in Croatia that's also higher than 1000 m.
Špičasti vrh (957 m)
Eng. Pointed peak, from here on you're crossing state borders into Slovenia.
Intersection #6
Take a right
Golič (890 m)
This is the peak, but the Golič plateau stretches a bit further, until the spot with a cross-like monument with the words "Golič".
Golič plateau - entrance
I'm not exactly sure why this "monument" wasn't planted at the actual Golič peak, but well... here it is. It should mark the official entrance (from the Slovenian side) to the Golič plateau.
Intersection #9
Take a turn to the right if you want to visit Lipnik. We skipped it and continued straight towards Kavčič.
Kavčič (883 m)
Kavčič peak, on the Slovenian side, subjectively offers the prettiest view of all the peaks visited on this hike.
Intersection #11
From here back to Špičasti vrh there isn't a trodden path. We just followed the general direction upwards, as the terrain is not diffuclt.
Water reservoir #2 / Fountain
I don't know if the water is safe to drink (we didn't drink it), but it should be.

Easy
I've navigated this track in January, and it was very enjoyable. Had to cut 1km off due to short daylight. Easy and very enjoyable track, thank you.
