Itinerary description
I had always been puzzled as to why this mountain pass was referred to as "Brattabrekka" ("Steep Slope") as it didn't feature any unusual gradients. It wasn't until last summer that I discovered that the roadway had actually been moved between valleys and away from the "steep slope" while retaining the name. Ever since I have wanted to hike the old road (disused for at least 30 years, possibly longer) - today I did it!
I must admit that along some stretches I probably didn't follow the original roadway, it has completely disappeared. Still, where the topography required cuts to be made you can still make them out - and those are of course the interesting bits. A pleasant two hour walk.
