Itinerary description

An out and back walk to the UK's third highest mountain, Braeriach in the Cairngorms. From the Sugar Bowl car park below the Cairngorms ski centre, a good path heads across the moor, up through the Chalamain Gap (a rocky defile formed in the last ice age) and across the deep pass of the Lairig Ghru. Then it's a steep pull up on to Sron na Lairige before following the path round to the summit of Braeriach. The views down Lairig Ghru and across to Ben Macdui, Cairn Toul and The Angel's Peak are stunning.

Return by the same route allows for more great views, north to Aviemore across the Glenmore Forest Park
