I have followed this trail  verified  View more

We chose the tour because we had heard of the venn and it’s wooden paths. What we didn’t know was that dogs are not allowed on these paths - even on the lead. This means you skirt around the Venn and the specialness. Whilst the woodland is then pretty, it’s also pretty standard. Not something I really needed to drive an hour and an half to get to. The tour itself is easy to follow - it follows the main forestry service roads for the first two thirds (probably a heavy e-biker thoroughfare later in the year, but on 1st of May it was virtually deserted) before meeting up with the highway. This is the really bad bit: you have to walk 4-500 meters along the main road with no footpath and the road side dropping straight into a two meter deep ditch. Not the best thing with you dog. But this bad bit is quickly done and the rest of the walk is well away from any roads and really rather nice, the forestry roads having given way to nice grass tracks. Did we enjoy the walk: yes: was it so good that we would do it again in the near future: no. It’s “nice” but not special.
