Itinerary description
Bovin (Blue) Lake Trail is a 20km out and back trek with a relatively steady grade of 7% running parallel to South Drywood Creek for the most part. Just one of many great hikes found in Castle Provincial Park the trail starts at a Shell Oil locked gate and follows a gravel road for the first 5km while progressing along a footpath up into the valley for the second half. Several predominant waterfalls can be seen along the trail but require some bushwhacking in order to visit. The trail finally opens up to a pristine lake nestled at the base of horseshoe shaped mountains with a day use area having picnic tables along the east side and primitive campsites scattered amongst the trees.
