Itinerary description

Passing through Botanical Gardens keeping to the left on the sealed road walking up past the PBA (water company) reservoir, a jungle trail is on the left side of the road. The climb is reasonably steep with the ascent up to 200 metres. Near the top of the ridge keep right until reaching the Parliament Rest Station. It is signposted as shown in the photo. There is a short cut to Station 46 from this junction. Reaching Parliament Rest Station, there are a few chairs, a table and rain water (not advisable to drink). Parliament Rest Station then connects with the Mountain Bike Trail (MBT) which is about 100 metres due west. The MBT follows along the contour to the south and north. Turning left, the MBT continues to ascend another 100 metres along a easily followed trail. The descent begins at the junction where the trail branches to Penang Hill. Take a left at the junction and descend towards Rain Gauge 2. Please note: This is a restricted water catchment zone so care must be taken. It is signposted on the other side of the bridge. The trail then meets the 1500 steps which lead back down to Botanical Gardens.
