Today we are in the Maramures region in the north of Romania . We are going to visit the Cailor Waterfall, which is the largest in the country with its 100 falls. I have already visited several and all of great beauty. There is a chairlift from the Borsa complex that will take you practically all the way up and then a short walk to it.
Instead we chose that option but to get to it we followed other paths that took us near the top of it. Once you have visited the waterfall, return on foot instead of going down the chairlift.

We leave the car next to the chairlift that will leave us very close to the waterfall. Once at the top of the chairlift, you can have a snack, enjoy the views and start the walk.

You will see that everyone takes the same path until a point where the two tracks open. The simple and short path to the right. Ours on the left following the marked route with Blue Band markings.

On our way we passed a small spring. Further on we are going to turn off to the right along a small, slightly diffuse path that leaves the big track. We continue along the path of Banda Azul. We have some nice views to our right as we move forward.

We approach the Collado Saua Stiol , where we find ourselves at a crossroads of paths.

From this point we will begin the descent to meet the Cailor Waterfall, along a path marked by the Red Triangle.

The path begins going down next to some beautiful meadows. As you go down I look to the left and I see a large open cavern in the mountain. I make a small detour to get closer to this small cave. I stay for a while and return the same way to the main path.
As I was coming back from the cave, I noticed a large flock of sheep going up to the Col. We stayed for a while talking to the shepherd.

I begin to hear the sound of water rushing down from the heights of the Cascade. Once you get to them you are surprised by their great beauty. They have well deserved their name as Cola de Caballo, like a great braid of water that descends from the top of the mountains.

I stay a good time enjoying this wonderful show. I approach a kind of wooden picnic area and from there we continue our path. Most people choose to go back to the chairlift and ride it down. So the ride will be much shorter. We are going down continuously, because we have to lose all the height that we have saved on the climb on the chairlift.

We ford a stream, which at this time of year is dry. Now the valley opens up more and the dirt track becomes a paved track that will leave us at the foot of the car park. Just before arriving, we turn right to go up a small meadow and reach the car park.

I hope you like this little walk, tomorrow we will ride the beautiful Mocanita Steam Train .

Muy buena ruta, acabamos de hacerla y hemos ampliado al Taul Stiol que quedaba cerca y merece la pena hacer alli una paradita. Gracias por la info.
