Itinerary description
A rough hike following the gorge, with great views.
Good hiking boots and no shorts recommended.
Parking in Gordes, or on a tiny parking at the starting point, or at the parking in the village des Bories.
At the starting point along the D177 follow the road with two large stone walls on each side (West).
Follow the road up to a T crossing an go right on a dead end road.
At C just before the end go on a small path downhill at a red fire hydrant nr 64.
Going downhill up to the village des Bories. Just before the parking go downhill on a path marked La Senancole
At J follow a yellow, sometimes blue marked path along the dry riverbed (Early September)
Here starts the rough part of the hike, but it is a great more challenging part.
Take the direction Senanque.
As we go along the left side of the gorge we quite unexpectedly go downhill to the other side of the gorge and uphill again.
On top follow Senanque.
Reaching the asphalt road we cross it over to the other side where we find a blue marked path, it is excellent. but sometimes a bit narrow.
We will end up high above the gorge with a view of the monastery below.
Follow this trial along the rim of the gorge.
Suddenly the trail heads east and later on south, back in the direction of the starting point.
Follow the main trail downhill, until reaching the D 177.
A short stretch along the D 177 back to the car.
