At the start of this walk there is a small area for a few cars. From here a wide, forest track takes you gently up among the trees, which, in November, were a mass of yellow and green leaves, brown and yellow where they littered the track. A sign suggested we might get a view of the sea on this route but the trees and rhododendron bushes obscured any distant sights. We extended the walk a little into the northern part of the wood. Helpful signs named some of the trees and advised as to the habits of secretive local wildlife, such as frogs and salamanders.
Arriving at another wooded car park, the GPS track took us onto a small tarmac road beside fields of harvested maize and apple orchards. Returning to the woods and the forest tracks we followed the route to where we started, doubling back to retrace our steps on the final few hundred metres.
