Evening walk to see the blue hole. Parking lot empty but during the day it was definitely packed.
To do on foot about 1.5 km. Entrance fee €0.50.
From the website vacanzeinalbania.it:
It is a karstic spring that generates a bubbling pool of water on the surface, the center of which is of an intense blue color, while in the shallower points it tends to a lighter blue. Seen from a distance, it resembles the iris of an eye.
The maximum depth of the pool is unknown, but exceeds 50m; the water temperature is just 12°C.. Swimming is expressly forbidden, so, even if you see everyone else doing so, avoid it.
The best time to visit the spring and the luxuriant nature that surrounds it, where the song of the crickets resounds and the darting dragonflies soar, is early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Only in these two time slots can you find it almost deserted, and fully enjoy a unique experience.
Occhio Blu: how to get there and tickets
Syri i Kalter
From Saranda the road to the Blue Eye is well signposted and, thanks to the recent redevelopment works of the road surface (now perfectly asphalted), in excellent condition.
In addition to the parking lot, which becomes particularly wild during the busiest times, the real problem is the 2 km to walk from the parking lot to reach the site. While waiting for the train to move from the rest area to the Blue Eye to be inaugurated, it is possible to rent scooters directly at the entrance turnstiles to facilitate the trek.
Open 24 hours a day, this natural wonder costs only 50 lek to enter.
Blue Eye: attractions
Blue eye
On site you will find a restaurant serving traditional cuisine, basic bungalows and stalls selling souvenirs.
The pure air, the faint murmur of the flowing water (provided that the shouting of the visitors does not overwhelm it), the smells and tastes of the typical Albanian dishes, make Syri i Kaltër the perfect place to relax and regenerate.
A couple of hours of digital detox in contact with nature will only be good for your body and mind. Leave your smartphone in your pocket for once and discover the Blue Eye Natural Park in all its splendour.
On one site I read that 18,400 liters per second come out of the source. a lot of water comes out, but so much seems to me an exaggeration
