Itinerary description

Bloodsucker Lake Trail is a moderate trail due to some difficult inclines and unmarked portions of the trail. Due to its low traffic, it seems the forest service does not do as much work to maintain and cut trees. There are some cairns that can help. Some portions of this GPS might not be completely accurate but it will give you a good general direction.

The lake is very beautiful and has some nice views of the Crystal Range. I walked around the lake during the summer but it does not have a distinct trail and might be more difficult as the water is higher. I assume the reason it is called bloodsucker is due to the mosquitos, however on the very hot day I went, there were nearly none at all. But I can see why there would normally be a lot of mosquitos so bring bug spray.
