Itinerary description
A splendid ridge walk with superb views. Only to be undertaken in settled weather. It crosses two major peaks in the Maamturks range: Cnoc na hUileann (606m) and Binn Bhriocáin (667m). Also you will pass the minor summits of Maumean (541m) and Binn Bhriocáin NE (603m). The walk is along the serpentine ridge between these summits and starts from the Maumeen valley road. The small carpark is just before the second bridge after the main Maumeen carpark. You can clearly see the steep Mam Ochoige col to the NE from here. Aim straight for this col keeping the stream on your left hand. The ridge itself is pretty straightforward and offers no particular difficulties apart from some light scrambling and a short very steep grass slope on the descent to Mam Tuic col. Just be aware you don't wander off on one of the side ridges or find yourself climbing through steep cliffs (you're definitely off-route then). The descent from Mam Tuic back west to the valley is a gentle grass slope without any problems. Keep the stream on your left hand. As soon as the terrain flattens out, cross the stream and aim SW until you find yourself on the Western Way (which you follow back to the carpark). I needed 6 hours to complete this walk in a moderate pace with a few short breaks.

C'est un très beau parcours, avec des vues extraordinaires.
Il reste difficile à parcourir, notamment dans les descentes humides et glissantes. Parcours assez boggy... mais les paysages en sont la récompense!
