Itinerary description

An easy coastal walk from the monument on Motueka Quay north alongside the golf course to the 'Kumeras' reserve. Deviate here back along the sand spit, or carry on through the reserve to Staples Street. Turn left onto Thorp Street and continue down to Old Wharf Road. Here you can either turn left and return to the start or turn right and continue on this 'track'. Once over the 2nd creek (drain) on Old Wharf Road, turn left and continue around the inner Motueka Estuary. Note - Half way around the estuary is a sign-posted deviation onto Courtney Street East, take this to the Corner of High Street and find a nice Cafe. Carry on around the estuary to the 'Causeway' (or follow your nose down High Street from the cafe and avoid the back of an industrial area). Follow the Causeway until you reach the coast at the Salt Water Baths, then continue down the beach front until you get back to the start. This walk can be 'power walked' in 1.5 hrs. A more leisurely pace 2-3 hours.
