Itinerary description
i've found it a great solution for walking on firebreaks in and after rain.
there were plenty of dew on greens when i started hiking early morning since it was raining the whole night.
my partner used to suggest me walk on firebreaks at that occasion, while i was just so hesitated to do so to avoid uncomfortableness for my knees. i tried to hike on natural trails for the first part, and i was all wet. so sounds like i had no choice but to choose firebreaks if i wanted to continue.
fortunately, i found that the roads were not that hard maybe because of rain having soaked into them. after completing the hiking, i recognized that i only hiked three times on natural trails, happy forest at beginning, one basin water trail in the end, and the trail by the right hand of badachu southeast gate since it was blocked.
the advantages of hiking on firebreaks are not only safe and clean, but also the possibility for enjoying sceneries around, esp. this route. the views of bridges, rail bridge, highway bridge and towing bridge, together with layers of mountains and beautiful villages in the valley are gorgeous.
another attracting point for this journey is the visit to sanjiadian village, which has been renowned as the first village of ancient pathways in beijing west. it's big, some old houses with delicate paintings, carvings, calligraphies and decorations have been maintained well and recognized as treasured relics by mentougou district office. i'm also impressed by the old temples, schools and places with old stories. locals are very nice and inclusive, welcoming guests from everywhere. it's worth visiting.
