Itinerary description
My cell-phone ran out of battery at the marked end point, but it was close to town, around one more km.
We walked from Arrowtown to Big Hill Trail (2,5hs) and then we took the Hayes Creek Walkaway to Arrowtown (3hs) . It was around 18km in total and it took us almost 6hs with a 45' break over the Big Hill.
The Big Hill part doesn't have any difficulty but Hayes Creek has. In the last trail you wil see an old mining settlement and Shamrock Cottage which is worth a look around. After the house, the path become harder because there are a lot of weeds on the trail, so you have to be carefull where you put your feet. Also, the orange signs are usually hidden among the weeds. After a while we have to cross the river (truck path) and then we almost cross again but we see the small orange sign pointing upward. In that moment we reach the Macetown Rd. After crossing the Norman Smith bridge my cell-phone turned off.
