Itinerary description
Inspired by a very old photo of 'tourists' at the base of the Big Falls on Barker Creek at the Bunya Mountains we decided to find a route to the bottom. A number of tracks lead to the top of the falls from either Dandabah or the Paradise Falls carpark. We scrambled down a gully (which we will now call python gully) immediately to the East of the bald hillock adjacent Barker Creek. It was overgrown and scrambly but not exposed. On the way back up we broke out from the gully onto the bald at a lower level. At the bottom we had to work out way back up to the base of the falls. We walked in very dry conditions. If wet it could be a difficult and slippery scramble (a belay rope might be handy).
