Itinerary description
This is an out and back hike. We entered Big Cypress at Wagon Wheel Road (dirt road) and saw a bear in the distance on the long dusty drive to the trailhead. There was still water in the prairie so wildlife have been actively using the raised, dry trail. The first section parallels a canal and offered some shade. Then the trail opened up to the vast prairie with little to no shade. It would be a very hot, buggy and wet hike during the summer months. We did our hike on a cool and breezy December morning. It was quite enjoyable.
