The route of the routes for all the tourists of the country, the Benidorm of Bhutan but in slope ... that yes, it can be done in horse or donkey. Thanks to that the path is a real disgust.
The accumulated data of ascent or descent are not as great as those that appear ... the mobile did not give good data, I am sorry.
There is a cafeteria halfway up, in our schedule was included a tea with cookies on the way up and the food on the way down.
The monastery is closed from one to two

Since this is a rapid climb with intermediate downslopes as well in slightly loose soil, it is best to carry a walking stick to go easy on the knees. The steeper portions have stone steps, but with plenty of loose pebbles, it can be a bit slippery in wet weather. It was drizzling slightly the day I went and the view was excellent once we were above the cloud level. It is a Must-Do experience if you are visiting Paro in particular and Bhutan in general.
