Itinerary description
The rock shelters of Bhimbetka inscribed as wold heritage by UNESCO and located in an ancient Vindyachal range. It is famous for prehistoric paintings. The painting depict scenes from everyday life of men hunting, riding, dancing, performing religious rituals of women grinding and preparing food, children running, jumping, playing and so on. A large number of animals also been painted. The colour used in the painting are red, green and white. The paint perhaps made by grinding various rocks and minerals till they become powder. They were then mixed with water and some sticky substance such as resin from trees.
How to reach: Bhimbetka located about 45Km North East of Bhopal state capital of Madhya Pradesh situated along Bhopal Hoshangabad highway.
