Itinerary description

This trail record shows both the ways to Bhimashankar from khandas/kathewadi. People choosing to do this trek via shidi ghat and end via Ganesh ghat can follow the respective recording and people choosing the other way round can follow it the reverse way.

This is the way for people choosing to do the trek via shidi ghat walkway which has it's own challenges like ladder crossing, boulder patches, thick forests and steep ascents. People can also choose easy alternative ganesh ghat route which would be the reverse of this trail record.

Two big water filled wells which are used by the villagers. From there follow the trail into the forest.

This is a good flat meadow where someone can choose to pitch there tent. Occasional Water source is just 60 mtrs away from this place but the water won't be drinking-safe.

A 50 metres patch just before the ladder which can get real slippery during the monsoons. Basic rock climbing might help get through safely.

There are two ladders which are little shaky so one at a time would be a good choice. This route is strictly not for the light hearted people. Be careful through.

Several huts to serve paid hot snacks and also stay options if you're willing to stay here. Also you're almost done here with the half ascent towards Bhimashankar. And this is the point where both the ghats route intersect (Ganesh ghat & shidi ghat) If you ask around you'll find the way to pawarbaba ashram on the left.

The mungi ghat section starts from this point. This is named of several reasons, this is red soiled area and home to several species of ants, the trail gets curvy and steeper from here.

From here you can spot the padargad fort at it's best. This natural fort structure resembles as Nandi facing the shivling. This is the great highlight of the Trek. Haven't posted the picture in as it should be a surprise for you.

The valley view is Done and you enter the thick forest of Bhimashankar wildlife from here. Now onwards entire trail will be gradually ascending and very pleasing through the jungle. Probability of spotting langurs around.

This is the highest point of the trek. This is a temple site of lord Shiva's of the 12 jyotirlinga. This place is road accessible from the other side. You can choose to trek back to the village or ride the other way.
