Itinerary description

I can't think of a better walk in Leicestershire, can you? leave me a comment below.

Starting at the carpark near windmill hill at Woodhouse, cross the road, turn left and walk up to Beacon Hill. Its a slow steady and long uphill but its the biggest of the walk and best to get it out of the way first! The views from Beacon Hill are superb.

Now head down through Martins Wood and Felicity's wood. At the bottom cross the small stream and turn right walking along the edge of the river.

After cross the bridge head up and to Buck Hill. You'll find yourself on a mini ridge, The views are great and this is the perfect spot for a quick break. Now head down following the footpath to the road. Turn left and walk 50 feet along the road, join the path again at the metal gate. Follow the footpath between Jubilee Woods and Out Woods, we went a bit of piste through the vegetation and up to the high point in the woods but if you don't want to do that keep on the track and turn right. My OS Map didn't show a footpath coming out of these woods where I wanted to be so we ended up taking a slightly longer route but it was as picturesque as the rest of the woods so all good.

Now follow brook road all the way to the Woodhouse Eaves village. You'll pass the Old Bulls Head, a very nice Pub but probably a bit too sophisticated for muddy walking gear! Here you could turn right heading back up the road to the carpark but its well worth the extra walking to see the windmill on Windmill hill. Yes the short walk through the housing estate isn't in keeping with the rest of the walk, there is also the option to carry on down this road to the centre of Woodhouse Eaves village, turn right and up the hill until you see the footpath on the right. This also passes the Curzon Arms, maybe a bit more walker friendly and one of our old favourites.

Windmill Hill is open weekends and bank holidays to walk in and up the steps to take in the view, don't expect too much but its a bit of something different along the walk.

Hope you enjoy... leave me a comment and let me know what you thought of the walk :)
