TREKKING SINAI SAINT CATHERINE TRAIL
Hiking through the Sinai Heights of Egypt and the Saint Catherine hike is one of the best experiences of trekking in Egypt’s wilderness. It is very diverse, a combination of walking between the boulder-strewn wadis, dramatic trails, and breathtaking scenery of the highest mountains in Egypt.
St. Catherine’s trails are one of the most important experiences for trekking, long-distance hiking, and camping in Egypt because it has the most important seven mountains in Egypt. It is also one of the most important heritage areas, as mentioned by UNESCO.
You will discover the traditional mountain lifestyle of nomadic Bedouins, including cooking over fire and sleeping under the stars. and learn a lot about the customs and traditions.
This trekking tour is dedicated to discovering the old trails of the Sinai Highlands in Saint Catherine, Egypt, with all their high mountains, dramatic wadis, and urban gardens hidden in the middle of the mountains with the Jabaliya tribe. All distances are estimated, and the itinerary could change on specific days due to weather or tiredness.
Day 1 Hike from Saint Catherine city to Mount Na'ga 11 KM
Early morning we will get our daily bags, then we will start our hike from Saint Catherine city riding the cars to Abo Sela village then we will start to hike to Shaq Tenya then we will get Mount Na'ga and enjoying the amazing panorama and our lunch there after that's we will walk to our camping garden beside Saqar canyon and spend our night there.
Day 2 Hike from Saqar Canyoun to El-Galt El-Azraq 7.5 KM
After breakfast, we will get our daily bags and leave the garden to Saqar Canyon, then Wadi Abo Toweta. Then, we will walk down from Um Sellh to get the natural pool "El-Galt El-Azraq" to enjoy swimming if the weather is warm and enjoying our lunch there. After that, we will start to walk to Wadi Tubuq and get Farsh El-Romana to spend our second night there.
Day 3 Hike from Farsh El-Romana to Mount Bab El-Donya & Jabal Abo Qoron 13.5 KM
We will walk from Farsh El-Romana to Naqb Bahrya boulders part we will jump throu it, then to Wadi Zattar, then to Ain Negela, where we could find springs of water and old walls for an old monastery. After that, we will get to Mount Bab El-Donya, and after that, we will enjoy our lunch, then we will get to the second summit, where we will enjoy an amazing panorama, and then we will walk through the wadi to get to the secret garden where we will spend our night.
Day 4 Hike from the secert garden to Mount Abbas Basha 8 KM
From the secret garden, we hiked Mount Abbas Basha to see the old foundation of the palace and the panorama of the city from the top, and we could choose between a scrambling trail down or a normal trail to get to our camping garden in Wadi Shaq.
Day 5 Hike from Wadi Mathar to Mount Saint Catherine 11.7 KM
We will wake up early to get our breakfast, and then we will start to hike the highest point in Egypt, Mount Saint Catherine, through a nice valley and enjoy the view from the top. After our lunch, we will walk down a rocky zigzag trail called "Shaq Mousa" to get to Wadi El-Arbain and spend our night in the garden there at the feet of Jabal Mousa.
Day 6 Hike from Wadi Arbain to Mount Sinai "Jabal Mouse's" 9.5 KM
Our last day we will hike Mount Sinai. We will walk a zigzag trail like 3 km, and then we get 750 steps up to get to the summit of Mount Sinai, and after that's we will walk down to get the city back.
