Itinerary description
Beshbarmaq mountain or Bash Barmek mountain - Beshbarmaq, which was called Khors-Khurs rock in the early Middle Ages and was referred to as Khorsvem, is considered the beginning of the historical Şeşpara territory. A piece of rock consisting of carbonate-bearing brecciated limestones (dolomites) resembles a "desert iceberg" and rises at 95 km of the Baku-Siyazan highway. Beshbarmag mountain is 445 m above sea level.
As one of the initial versions of the formation of the mountain, the compression of carbonate-containing rocks due to the effect of tectonic movements and the creation of such a landscape is shown as a result. It is possible to find many karst-type cavities and nests on the rock.
When looking at the rock from the east and west, it resembles the fingers of a human hand, and probably that is why this rock was named Five Fingers.
On June 8, 2020, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree on the establishment of the Beshbarmag Mountain State Historical, Cultural and Nature Reserve.
