Itinerary description
After 3 snow hikes in the High Fens around New Year, I head back to the area for a 31 km solo hike from Solwaster to the Bayehon cascade and back. The latter is merely 9 m high, but is still the highest natural cascade in Belgium.
High up on the plateau snow lies 40 cm thick and many pine trees seem to have snapped, blocking trails. Fog and light showers remain the entire day, and the atmosphere is spooky. The day before, 4 people got lost in the fog and had to be rescued, for 2 of them the ordeal lasted until 3 am.
