Itinerary description

A beautiful trail through woods and agricultural land following mostly old estate roads with some steep sections on small farmers tracks.

Start on Beausejour road 150 yards short of Grenville Vale eco-garden. Look for a small concrete bridge across the river. Follow the trail up alongside the river, crossing it after a few minutes. Climb progressively until you reach the first house at Granton, the next village. At second house turn sharp left and descend to cross first a stream, then a few more yards and a small river. Keep on trial which now climbs steeply up to top of a ridge. Once over ridge the trail forks - keep to the lower trail. After citrus tree growing next to spring/ small stream (good water) follow trail descending slightly but generally west direction - can be hard to identify trail here. After 5 mins expect to reach T junction with larger, easy to see trail which is in fact old estate track. Turn right on this and head uphill. This track will zig zag twice up to top of next ridge through woods. Just after top of ridge turn left and downhill next to small animal compound on right. Trail descends down steep river valley, crosses and then ascends other side. At top meet citrus area with old concrete road - turn right and follow road to old location of Mont D'Or estate buildings (wood building plus some ruins). Continue straight ahead and descend road with hairpins for 1.5 miles to main road.
