Itinerary description
This route utilizes the southern 1/3 of the ECTA's 6 kilometre Prince's Ridge Path in Portugal Cove, but exits after the first viewpoint to return to the start. Prince's Ridge is a beautiful trail, but after hiking the length of the trail TH to TH, there's an additional ~2km road walk to return to your vehicle. The Beachy Cove Loop takes an old, partially overgrown woodcutting trail (use the GPS track to navigate) to give the hiker a route with a significant challenge in elevation gain followed by a gentle valley descent back to their vehicle. The spectacular Beachy Cove Hill viewpoint with an expansive view over Conception Bay and Bell Island is the highlight.
