Itinerary description
The complete Baskinta literary trail from Bqaatouta to Chakhroub passing through Beqaatet Kanaan, Kfartay, Wadi El Karm, Kfar aqab, Machraa, Ain el Qabou and Baskinta.
This trail is not a loop; We left a car at Mikhail Neaimi mausoleum and went to the starting point. The full trail is long with some difficult sections and is reserved to experienced hikers.
We started our hike at the convent of Saydit el Niyah and followed a clear trail to the site where the Patriach was ambushed. From there, the trail is not well marked, and the initial route created by LMT has probably changed due to the construction of Beqaatet Kanaan dam, so the best way is to follow the main route till Mar Abda church. After this waypoint, there is a trail leading to the valley separating Beqaatet Kanaan and Kfartay and an old beautiful wooden bridge will help you cross the river.
From Kfartay to Ain el Qabou, you will be following the road most of the time.
The difficult part is finding the footpath from Ain el Qabou to Baskinta. Follow my recording and your hiker common sense.
At Baskinta, the trail becomes finally well marked till the end. The part from Abdallah Ghanem cultural center to Chakhroub is the most beautiful part of this trail (if you want to hike part of the full trail, this part is the best).
You can check the LMT website lebanonmountaintrail.org for more info about the cultural checkpoints though this trail.
Enjoy hikers and #HikeWhileYouCan :)
