Itinerary description
From the Puerta de los Pescadores roundabout and BP Petrol Station near Alhaurin el Grande, drive along the MA3303 (signed A366 Coin and A355 Marbella for approx. 3 km) before turning left on to the Camino road to Barranco Blanco (small pennant flag “La Fuente” on left) after Km 5 and just before Km 4. Drive along the dirt and concrete Camino down into Barranco Blanco valley to a small clearing near a bridge to start of Walk.
We walk around the valley on a series of rough broad stony tracks, with total ascent and descent elevations of 300 metres. The climb up to the highest point is a long gradual incline, with views over the valley and the sea at Fuengirola, where we will have our refreshment break. We then descend on a steeper single-file rutted and rocky path for approx. 2 km (where care is needed) before reaching the valley floor, cross a ford, and on to wider concrete and dirt roads ascending quite steeply back to the start.

If it wasn’t for the this App one wouldn’t find the track . The ascend is easy to follow but the descent is technically quite challenging for the average hiker . I was the only one on the trail (probably too hot in July for most people) and on the downward section the trail is overgrown hence hard on your legs thus one should wear long pants which is difficult given the 30+ temps this time around . In general I am not impressed how the trails are marked , furthermore I would appreciate if there were some resting benches along the way . The trails I have done so far are all spectacular and given that tourism is important for Spain I would expect them to put more efforts in making the hiking trails easier to follow .
