Itinerary description
Bamford circular
This walk starts and finishes at Bamford station and is a fairly straightforward walk with varied scenery. The initial part of the walk follows close to the valley of the river Derwent, eventually rising along a wooded pathway to reach the dam of the Ladybower reservoir where there are good views both to the North and downstream into the wooded Derwent valley. After crossing the dam the route turns S along the main road for a short distance before ascending a track on the left and later rejoining the road close to Bamford village.
After exploring the village the route crosses the main road once more descending to cross the river Derwent at the weir and eventually crosses the outward path and returns to Bamford station via the Hope valley garden centre, then crosses the river Derwent once more at the road bridge close to its confluence with the river Noe which runs along the Hope valley. From here it is a short distance back to Bamford station.
