Before, the Baltoro trek started in Askole, but civilization advances, and so do the tracks. If there are no unforeseen events due to landslides on the track or fallen bridges, you can advance almost to Bardumal.
In our case there were quite a few unforeseen events, which our guides solved very well to be able to continue advancing, and on the same day 10 that you left Skardu we arrived by jeep to a point between Chobrok and Pharblok, where we camped, and from where the next day we began the trek. .
We don't start walking until the afternoon because we have to wait for the porters. Without them, there is no trekking, and from August 7 to 10 it was Muharran, a Shiite mourning-festival in which the Shiites (and most of our porters) son) are at home with the family.
The route is short and simple, with hardly any unevenness and following the course of the Braldu River, we arrive at Bardumal Campsite (3,165 M). What you have to be very careful about is not to get close to the edges of the river, because the terrain is made up of sand and stones and with the force that the river carries, the lower part is undermined, until the upper part collapses.
