Itinerary description

This walk is a combination of the Link, Scenic,Ash,Lyrebird ridge and Forest tracks. We parked in the visitor’s centre car park and took the Link track at the northern end, all the tracks flow into one another and are easy to follow. All tracks are well marked and used, the tracks are fairly easy until the Forest track which has some steep sections. The tracks take you through some beautiful cool temperate rain forest, giant tree ferns, mountain ash ( royal eucalyptus ). We picked up a few leaches so beware, also there is a short walk at the end of along the side of the sealed road. This was a most enjoyable hike, loved it

The Tarra-Bulga Scenic Circuit is an 8.2 km hike located in the Tarra Bulga National Park, Victoria. The circuit starts and ends at the Tarra Bulga Visitors Centre, and it took us approximately 3 hours to complete.

0ur walk was a journey through primeval rainforest, and the area features a combination of popular trails around the Visitor Centre. We started walking the Lyrebird Ridge Track. During our walk we saw stunning views of the forest, including a swing bridge and a picnic area.

The national park is about 200 kilometers east of Melbourne but we were camping at Reeves Beach so it was relatively short drive via Tarra Valley Road/Bulga Park Road from Yarram. The roads were narrow and winding, offering scenic views, including panoramic views from Mount Tassie.

The area is one of only four major areas of cool temperate rainforest in Victoria and is a haven for various wildlife, including birds like the pilotbird and yellow-tailed black cockatoo which were consistently around us during the walk.

Overall, the Tarra-Bulga Scenic Circuit and the national park itself offered us a tranquil, peaceful, and meditative experience in a lush rainforest setting. I found it an excellent destination where we immersed ourselves in nature and enjoyed an easy to moderate hike.
