Itinerary description
Day 11. Croaghanmoira Mountain 664m, Ballycurragh Hill 536m and Muskeagh Hill 397m, Wicklow, Eire (Marilyns).
On many of the peak bagging/outdoor websites I perused for this trip I noted there were very few route descriptions regarding ascents of the lesser known Irish Marilyns. This also applied to the availability of gpx files. I will therefore add relevant information and files that hopefully will provide assistance to future hikers/peakbaggers.
Ballycurragh Hill 536m, just South of Glenmalure.
Very similar route to Croaghanmoira that I had done literally an hour before. Parking is again at a forestry entrance. Small 2/3 cars only. The route goes up the track of the forest directly in front and doubles back South to come out of the forest. You then simply follow a wide track uphill all away to the top where you turn left and see a cairn shortly after on your left. I had a bit of a wander around the top to try and find the true summit and then came back down. The views of the rolling hills of Wicklow are okay but it was not the best of weather days.
Parking: Forestry entrance, 2/3 cars.
Route: Good wide track all the way to the top. Up and down route. Nice views.
Statistics: 5.4km with 310m height gain done in 1hr 26mins.
Maps: Outdoor Active digital Harveys/Irish Topo.
