Itinerary description
The walk up Bald Rock by the Bungoona Trail is a beautiful walk ready accessible by the majority of people. The walking track gradually climbs through granite boulders and tors to the summit of Bald Rock which at the top has fantastic views of both the sunset and the sunrise.
This version of the track was done at sunset. There is another trail that descends Bald Rock to the east but it is not recommended to do this at sunrise or sunset.
The track starts from the Bald Rock picnic area which is just down the road from the campsite. Initially the track heads out to the north along a gravel filled pathway and across several new bridges before coming back to the west.
The track then assends via a series of windy loops in and out of a number of boulders. There are stairs in between the boulders but you do need to watch your head as you weave between them.
Eventually you will hit the granite open rock area for a short while before you ascend the final section again via some stairs cut into the granite. The open rock areas have a series of white dots that you can follow to assist in navigation.The top consists mainly of open scrubland and open rock areas so it is very exposed to the wind just before sunset and just after sunrise.
A beautiful walk to do at sunset and almost guaranteed to create some great photos.
