Itinerary description
We park the car in the big free parking of the Schlossalmbahn and we take this bergbahn up to the highest station.
There we follow the signals of Gaudenerer Hochalmen. The hike is very easy to follow, as usual, due to the clear indications at every junction, but it is not appropriate for families with children because in some areas the path is slippery, narrow and you can fall down on the sloped hillside, which is very dangerous. For adults it is not dangerous at all because these portions of the path are well secured with ropes or chains.
You will walk through 4 or 5 huts, where you can have a break.
The sightseeings are amazing along the whole hike.
It is possible to make a round route and come back to the cable railway, but we decided to continue the descent up to the hotel Lackenbauer, by the skycentre in Angertal, because it is shorter and there is a big risk of a heavy rain. From the Alpenpension Lackenbauer, where there is a bus stop, you can walk along a secondary road for 45 minutes up to the parking at initial point, but we took the local bus, which takes only 10 minutes.
If you are fit enough, this hike would be very nice in the opposite direction, from the parking of skicentre in Angertal to the top of the Schlossalmbahn station and take the bus at the botton station to reach the car in Angertal.
Highly recommendable hike!
