Itinerary description
Auburn State Recreation Area ( http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=502 ) In Pointed Rocks ranch (also called Knickerbocker Ranch or Olmstead trail area.) One of many trails in the Cool section of Auburn State Recration Area. This small spur trail starts at the paved "trail" and goes to a hillside above the river. This trail has mostly been abandon. Some of it follows a very old dirt road cut. Much of the trail is over grown but it is still easy enough to negotiate. Vinca at the very end of the trail is proof that once many years ago, there was a homestead here. Bear scat was seen. There are also great views out to Folsom Lake and down to the site of what would have been Auburn Dam.
Not a stand alone trail--just a branch off of other trails. See
