Itinerary description

A lovely little trail next to a little creek with cascades, pools, and a few large monolith rocks. This is the trail on the PARC map called "oregon bar trail". See http://www.parc-auburn.org/parc_map.htm

The top of this trail seems to be private property. Currently (3/09) a few houses are being built in the new subdivision on Eagle's nest drive. I do not know if this subdivision will allow public access to the original trail head. Therefore, it is better if you go back the way you came or try the Oregon bar loop: http://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/view.do?id=306316

This is not a stand alone trail. You can reach it from the Oregon bar loop or start on this trail near mile 52 of the Pioneer express trail at the river.

Rumor has it that the Eagle's nest housing area has allowed an easement for this trailhead. So this trail can still be used. I still would like to do a loop including Cardiac . The above mentioned Oregon bar loop is no longer available. It is fenced off at Cardiac and unfortunately crosses private land. so much for easements for long established trails. A loop can still be done. Down Cardiac, up this Oregon bar trail, up the Eagle's next road to the PCWA canal and back on the canal access. Hopefully neither PCWA nor the Eagle Nest housing will stop access. Note that someone on the PCWA route has already prevented access to going West from Eagle's nest along the canal.

Peeka_Boo and daughter Neon Clouds (no longer a cacher) started out at 9:30 this morning at the Oregon Bar Trailhead N38 51.908, W121 4.202 as we parked my car across from the trailhead. Kind of a steep, very wet trail today after all the rains. Made our way to the cute little bridge to the right and headed down Pioneer Express Trail towards Rattlesnake Bar where my husband would be waiting to pick us up. It was a gorgeous day and it took us about three hours and along 6 1/2 to 7 miles of trails. Her tracker and mine came up different. I highly recommend this hike especially this time of year as everything is green, flowers are blooming and there are hundreds of butterflies!

This is somewhat of a steep downhill for almost a mile so it may be difficult for someone with bad knees. I've been down this hill once before with a group of geocachers 1/1/2014 and we turned left at a fork instead of right. We need to cross the little bridge to the right that heads towards Rattlesnake Bar.
