Itinerary description
Middle Fork area-A steep way to get down to the old quarry. The advantage is that this road/trail has lots of side branches that take you to various levels of the quarry so that you can see it from different vantage points.
The first half mile is a trail. The rest of the journey is a dirt road. The trail part is not maintained and could use a little pruning. An alternative way into this road to through the PGE gate. However, there is no parking at the gate. Parking somewhere else and walking on hwy 49 is far too dangerous. The half mile trail section is short and is in a nice mossy forest and there is parking at the trailhead.
