Itinerary description

While on the Confluence Trail, you’ll have great views of the North Fork American River, Quarry Trail, and the Cave Valley Rock Climbing area. Some parts of this trail are narrow on steep hillsides so those with vertigo problems might have a thrill.

Culvert Trail is rocky and rutted as it is a very popular mountain bikers trail. I prefer ascending this trail, rather than descending, so I’ll see the bikers coming at me (at crazy fast speeds!). This part of the lollipop will definitely give you a cardio workout.

While on the Stonewall Trail, start paying attention at approx mile 4.8, to find the unmarked huge stonewall. Since it is on the downhill side, you could easily walk right past it.

Bathrooms available at 1) trailhead, 2) Mammoth Bar OHV entrance road, and 3) Fuel Break parking area.

NOTE: The Stonewall section of this lollipop is an OHV trail so be aware of high speed vehicles. I suggest you plan to hike this trail when the OHV is closed. (see waypoint photo for schedule)
