was hut open for tourist or closed as private? thanks https://de.wikiloc.com/routen-outdoor/atc-south-alternative-9370347#wp-9370351/photo-5597063
The hut is open. I think it is for 'local' tourist. If you use it in a responsible way, nobody wouldn't mind.
There is a stove, a cooking place, a dish with 2-3 chairs, and ~3-4 sleeping places.

Thanks for reply. Just one another question.
A would like to do part from Sarfanguaq to Sisimiut appx 50km. It´s part of your trek. Was any path marking? Any stone tower? I would like to follow path which is in map but i´m not sure if the path is physically done.
thanks

Currently, the Southern Route is not well marked and there is no trail to follow for the majority of it. There are cairns, but they are not enough to navigate by. You must know how to navigate with a map/compass/GPS.
In 2024, we will be adding further markings to the route. For more information about this trail (and the original Arctic Circle Trail route), please go to:
Hello Lisa
I repeated the southern branch in August 2022 and the quality of the markings varied greatly.
It is advisable to use a GPS tack if in doubt. On the Internet you can find GPS tracks with the search terms "arctic circle trail gpx", for the normal route and the southern alternative. This should be the marked path. It differs from the old maps because it does not run east of the large lake near Sarfannguit, but runs a little north on the west bank and then makes a 90 degree turn to the west. ....but you probably already know that.
The hut under construction (Igalassat Hut) was still in very poor condition in 2022 and was in danger of tipping to the side, held in place by two old tension straps and a few boards for support. The door was difficult to open. Inside there is mostly unused building material... Overall, the location is also very unfavorable; storms sometimes hit here. I spent one of my worst nights here.
Thanks Kadar -
Yes - people wanting to attempt the route should download the GPX tracks from the official ACT website (not sure why that didn't show up in my last posting): arcticcircletrail . gl
We slung out a new Igalassat Hut last month and I'll have a full update on where we are at with replacing the old hut by end of November.
