Itinerary description
Fantastic trail, it’s a combination of most trails in Troodos range, everything you see along Atalanti will be present on other mountain trails - various flora (pines, cedars, junipers, etc.) and fauna represented by different birds. Breathtaking views of Troodos mountain range. The trail is so beautiful that I used the limit for waypoints far before the end.
I finally made the whole trail and i have to admit that it’s very popular among fellow hikers and runners, you definitely won’t be alone.
TERRAIN: mostly narrow rocky path, sometimes gravel or rocky car roads. Mild ascents and quite easy descents. Quite easy trail overall, can be qualified as moderate for those who never did hiking.
Hiking boots are highly recommended.
SEASON: at least 50% of the trail is exposed to the sun, but despite the easiness it’s better walkable in cooler seasons.
There are plenty of dry rivers crossings, I guess those rivers might be alive in wet seasons, so one should keep that in mind.
SIGNS: there are direction signs in all the necessary places, as well as metering, many plants plates, enough of resting places.
The trail is well definable on its own.
KIDS: the trail is advisable for the kids from 6-7 yo with adult supervision. There are some rocky unprotected parts of the trail which might be dangerous for younger kids.
