Itinerary description
Astoria Column down Cathedral Tree trail and back. This is a popular tail here in Astoria. It's pretty steep, muddy, and slippery in places so don't wear your good shoes, and be extra cautious in the middle part where it is very steep. You can start the trail either at the Astoria column or on Irving near 28th.

Nice up to the column and back down or do it the other way if you like, park at the column and hike down then back up. Lots of eagles, ravens and crows nest nearby and one can see the river through the stand of older growth forest.
