Itinerary description
Askja Trail / Öskjuvegur - 5 days
1) Herðubreiðarlindir/Þorsteinsskáli hut to Bræðrafell hut.
Distance: 19 km, time: 6 hrs.
2): From Bræðrafell to Dreki hut.
Distance:21 km, time: 7 hrs.
3) From Dreki across the Askja caldera to Dyngjufell hut.
Distance:26 km, time:10 hrs.
4:) From Dyngjufell to Botni hut.
Distance: 21 km, time: 6 hrs.
5) From Botni to Svartárkot-farm.
Distance: 15 km, time: 4.30 hrs.
Attention !!!!
All streams between Þorsteinsskáli hut and Botni hut are temporary/seasonal - from melted snow.
1) Herðubreiðarlindir/Þorsteinsskáli hut to Bræðrafell hut.
Distance: 19 km, time: 6 hrs.
2): From Bræðrafell to Dreki hut.
Distance:21 km, time: 7 hrs.
3) From Dreki across the Askja caldera to Dyngjufell hut.
Distance:26 km, time:10 hrs.
4:) From Dyngjufell to Botni hut.
Distance: 21 km, time: 6 hrs.
5) From Botni to Svartárkot-farm.
Distance: 15 km, time: 4.30 hrs.
