Itinerary description
This trail starts at Askja-parking (Vikraborgir), crosses the Askja caldera, climbs up to the pass Jónsskarð. After the pass the way proceeds down to Dyngufell-hut, leads over several terraces, broad snowfields, boulders and steep slopes. Due to the dense fog and the extensive snowfields I couldn't follow the marked path continuously and had to find my own way.
