Itinerary description
Monte Catalfano, di natura calcarea, si protende nel Mar Tirreno con il promontorio di Capo Zafferano. Nel corpo roccioso si aprono alcune profonde cavità (gli zubbi) che accolgono importanti popolazioni entomologiche. Tra questi, lo Zubbio di Cozzo San Pietro, la Grotta dell'Eremita e la Grotta di Cala dell'Osta.
Il percorso di oggi rappresenta la via piu' breve per il punto trigonometrico della montagna da cui si puo' osservare, superando Capo Zafferano, il mare fino all'orizzonte, la citta' di Palermo a Ovest e Porticello a Est
Monte Catalfano, of limestone nature, juts out into the Tyrrhenian Sea with the promontory of Capo Zafferano. In the rocky body there are some deep cavities (the zubbi) that welcome important entomological populations. These include the Zubbio di Cozzo San Pietro, the Grotta dell'Eremita and the Grotta di Cala dell'Osta.
Today's route represents the shortest route to the trigonometric point of the mountain from which one can observe, beyond Capo Zafferano, the sea up to the horizon, the city of Palermo on the west and Porticello village on the east
