IMPORTANT NOTE: THE DIFFICULTY WITH WHICH I CATALOG MY ROUTES IS REFERRED TO MOUNTAINS USED TO WALK, WHO UNWIND WITH FACE ON ALL THE LAND, NOT FOR OCCASIONAL HIKERS. IF YOU HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE, ADD ONE MORE DEGREE TO THE DIFFICULTY OF MY ROUTES SO YOU WILL NOT GET SURPRISES
Ascent to the southern summit of the "Tres Hermanas", which at 3158m is the highest of these three volcanoes. It is within the Three SIsters Wilderness Area, in the state of Oregon, in the western United States.
We start the route next to Devils Lake, where there is a Camping Area and a parking lot. We made the route linear since in itself it is complete enough to have tried to make a circular section (I considered it but it was too long). I have classified it as moderate in difficulty for hiking due to the steep slope, since in itself it does not have any complexity. The first section of ascent (softer) goes through a wide and comfortable path through the interior of a lush forest. The forest opens up until it disappears completely and enters purely volcanic territory, the path remains good for a while but little by little it becomes wilder (without being uncomfortable) and is gaining unevenness until reaching the last sections of ascent before look out over the cimero crater, from where you get beautiful and wide views in all directions. There was a lot of snow from a certain height and in fact the interior of the crater was full of snow so it was very easy and comfortable to walk on it. The return was identical to the climb.
We did the route in August 2011 but I manually recorded it in April 2020.
