Itinerary description

This short trail starts from the Jökulsárgljúfur National Park Visitor Centre and is described in "Walking and Trekking in Iceland" by Cicerone press. Most of the walk is easy among low birch trees, grass, heathland and a bit of the golf course. There is a steep climb up a cliff, assisted by stairs and a rope.

Visitor Centre

The National Park Visitor Centre had toilets, a coffee machine, an exhibition of local natural history and a helpful person behind the desk. Note the nearest cafe and shop as at the N1 Petrol station beside the road.

Àsbyrgi Camping

Campsite with flush toilets, showers, water and rubbish bins.
