Itinerary description
A steep climb with nice peep holes.
Take Hwy 89A North, direction Flagstaff. Park just after West Fork on the right hand side (Mile 385.1) at a small parking, along the road under a high cliff.
Walk next to the road (there is space for a safe walk) in the same direction (North). After about 120 Yards you reach the Trail Head.
Follow the trail, that is faint at some points. Keep close to the telephone poles and line as the trail goes in the same direction for the first stretch.
Reaching the ridge ends the first steep climb as the trail levels off for some time.
Passing the Peep Hole on the right.
And for the final climb up to the mesa above.
Take a short stroll along the large mesa and go back the same way.
Bring your walking sticks. It's a lot easier going down on a path that is (very) steep and slippery at times.
Hiking time 1 Hour up and 45 Minutes down.
Total 2 Hours 15 Minutes return including the stroll along the mesa.
Some books say 2 hours up but that is when you're out of shape.
