Itinerary description
Hike from Arigna Village with great views over Lough Allen from Crosshill and on to Arigna Mining Experience. Mix of local roads and mountain tracks. The route starts in Arigna Village where plenty parking is available. Follow the road southwards, signposted for the Mining Experience, but veer left along an agricultural track towards Crosshill. As you gain height there are great views over Lough Allen and towards Slieve Anierin on the other side of the lake. Leave the road at the Miner's Way route marker and climb up Derreenavoggy for further great views, including the Derreenavoggy wind farm. Sections of this track can be very muddy and wet. From the highest point follow the route markers towards the Mining Experience centre where you can learn about the now discontinued mining heritage of the area. From here you can return down towards your starting point, passing the local graveyard and church.
