The Conversion of the Goddess Tserinma
The Oakinis above, on, and beneath the earth,
Together with the meritorious Devas
Will also come to greet you. They will bring
Victorious banners and great canopies
And play melodious music for your welcome.
They will make you splendid offerings,
Showing you the way to the Pure Land.
Let us, who have seen you and heard you preach,
Both human beings and Non-men,
All become your servants
And follow you to the Pure Land!

Thus they sang, offering their sincere wishes and expressing their ad-
miration.
Milarepa thought, "These worldly Oakinis are very arrogant and in-
corrigible. They still have to be subdued and disciplined." So he said,
"Fair ladies, it is indeed wonderful that you have such faith and respect
for me and have expressed your sincere, pure wishes for the future. I
have shown you the Path leading towards Buddhahood, and granted
you the Precepts of the Bodhisattva. Now I am going to give you
the Instructions and Precepts of the Diamond Vehicle, which abounds
with skills and means; it is the easiest, fastest, and most versatile Path
leading towards Buddhahood. Now you should prepare the offerings,
and also surrender to me the quintessence of your lives."
The Oakinis were thrilled with great joy. Immediately they arranged
oblations on a grand scale, prostrated themselves before the Jetsun, and
circumambulated him many times; and finally they offered him their
lives. They then sat round him, as before. Thereupon, Milarepa vouch-
safed them the Initiation called "Demonstrating the Awareness of Drol
Ma," and the Initiation of the Goddess Kurukulla, together with the
teaching of the Reciting-the-[words-of-] Essence. He admonished them
to observe the discipline strictly, and instructed them to visualize their
Guru sitting on their heads at all times. He taught them that whatever
the crisis they might encounter, good or bad, they should look only to
the Three Precious Ones for guidance and help. Never should they put
their trust in pagan gods. The Jetsun then said, "You should know that
the outer world is, in essence, identical with the Beyond-measure Palace
of the Buddhas; all sentient beings are, in essence, identical with the
Patron [Yidham] Buddhas. Whoever you meet, you should respect him
and love him. Not even for a single moment should you have any malig-
nant and hostile thoughts towards anyone, nor should you revile or hurt
him in any manner. In all circumstances and at all times you shou
